LASOC’s mission is to provide civil legal services to low-income individuals and seniors and to promote equal access to the justice system through advocacy, legal counseling, innovative self-help services, in-depth legal representation, economic development and community education.
LASOC first created the technology behind Legal Genie™ in 1999 and since then, the nationally-recognized technology has assembled nearly 160,000 court pleadings and forms on behalf of self-represented litigants in California, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Virginia.
In 2009, LASOC entered and won first prize for Legal Genie™ at the Academies for Social Entrepreneurship (formerly Social Enterprise Institute) Showcase, a business plan competition sponsored by Chapman University Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship, Wells Fargo Bank, the Orange County Community Foundation, Bank of the West and Boeing, among others.
